Meet the Team

Kyle Renick
Financial Services Professional | Successor Agent
I became a New York Life agent in 2013 after three years in banking and one year coaching collegiate basketball. Having experienced the significant impact of life insurance on my own life, I joined New York Life to use this first-hand understanding to help families just like mine.
In 2009 my wife, Michelle, and I moved to the Spring area from Ohio, and now consider Texas our home! I greatly enjoy assisting families in our area and beyond by answering their most important financial questions. As a husband and father of two boys, I firmly grasp the financial concerns of young families, and gladly work to assist them in planning for the best while preparing for the worst. I love what I do!
My business is centered around working with great people, and nothing makes me happier than seeing their futures being protected. Because I am so passionate about what I do, my clients always get my honest analysis and can be confident that I am looking out for their best interests for the present and the future. Whether you need one solution or ten, you will leave my office informed on many of your options so you can make the best decisions for you and your family.
In 2008, I graduated from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, and went on to graduate from New York Life’s famed NYLIC University. I am also a proud six-time (2015-2020) New York Life Executive Council Qualifier*.
I have been an active member of Northside Christian Church since 2011 and enjoy spending my free time volunteering there.

Christopher Kahl
Registered Representative | Agent
I joined New York Life in 2019 after a long and fulfilling career as a teacher and high school football coach. For me, being an agent is an opportunity to continue teaching and coaching by guiding my clients toward sound decisions that will assure an impregnable financial future for themselves and their families.
Getting to know my clients and customizing solutions for their unique situation is something I really enjoy. That is why I specialize in retirement planning. There is no ‘one size fits all’ way of addressing retirement and whether it is social security, TRS, or something else, I am excited to work with you to create the best game plan for your needs.
As an offensive line coach, I taught my players to work together. Teamwork was more than a guiding principle that I instilled in these young men, it was an essential tool for them to accomplish their goals safely and effectively. I have learned that the same is true for planning for retirement. The addition of a knowledgeable financial professional on your team can help ensure that your financial goals are achieved safely and effectively.
I have known Coach Jim Smith since the 1990s when I was a football player at Dulles High School. I have always admired Coach Smith, and marveled at how he genuinely took interest and delight in showing his clients how to shape their financial futures. He told me that his career is so satisfying because he truly is helping his friends. This inspired me, and now I work down the hall from Coach Smith and emulate the creed that has served his clients and friends through the years: I take genuine interest in people, and I leave no stone unturned or solution unexamined when addressing the specific needs of my clients and friends.
I am honored to have wonderful clients who can call on me when life changes or needs arise, and the best part is that I am helping my friends.
My wife Stephanie and I have two beautiful daughters: Charlotte and Ashlyn. These three ladies are truly the joys of my life.

Jana Smith
Licensed Service Assistant
Jana is our newest addition to the team, joining us in March of 2020. She is also Jim’s daughter! She holds a General Life and Health Insurance license. Before following her dad to New York Life, Jana worked as a physician assistant in orthopedic surgery in the Dallas and San Antonio areas. She is a graduate of Texas A&M University. Outside of work, Jana enjoys spending time with her family, especially her adorable nephew and niece.
Shannon Campbell
Data and Services Manager/Coordinator
Shannon has worked in insurance and/or finance since 2000 and she has worked with Jim for the past 13 years. She is a graduate of Texas A&M University. Shannon is married to Barry, a high school football coach, and has two children, Briley and Tyson. Outside of work she supports her family at sporting events, enjoys spending time on the water, and tackles the occasional DIY project.
Jamie Shaffer
Client Service Coordinator
Jamie has been assisting our clients for more than a decade. She lives in Magnolia with her husband, Lance, and two children: Luke, who is a freshman at Baylor University, and Jenna, who is a freshman at Magnolia High School. When away from the office she can usually be found in the barn helping Jenna with her FFA projects, in the gym cheering on a volleyball game, or traveling to Waco for a visit with Luke.
Corey May
Client Service Associate
Corey has been with us since 2018. She assists with meeting preparation, research, and client relations. She is a former educator and is known for her handwriting and her way with words. When Corey is not providing our clients with friendly service, she enjoys good books, road trips, knitting, spending time with her nieces, and watching the Astros.
Mandi Kelso
Data Services Associate
Mandi and her husband, a police detective, have been married for 20 years and share three children ages 16, 14, and 5. She is extremely proud of her kids and is kept on her toes with their school activities ranging from softball to FFA to competitive bass fishing! A good memoir or a chance to travel with her family is always welcome when time permits, but her recent discovery of gardening has quickly developed into her true passion.
